Terms of Service
Last updated: October 10, 2026
These terms are the rules for using Partnr. We wrote them to be short and clear. Each section starts with a one-line summary, but the full section is what counts.
1. Who can use Partnr
In short: Partnr is for high school students ages 13 to 19. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian needs to review these terms with you.
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 13, you can't create an account.
- Partnr is built for high school students. If you're older than 19, Partnr isn't for you.
- If you're under 18 (or under the age of adulthood where you live), you can use Partnr only if a parent or guardian has reviewed these terms and our Privacy Policy with you and agrees to them.
- Give us true information about yourself, including your real age and school. One account per person.
2. What Partnr is (and isn't)
In short: Partnr helps students find partners. It's free. It's in beta, so things will change and sometimes break.
- Partnr helps high school students find partners for research, startups, nonprofits and competitions, and gives you tools to message and work together.
- Partnr is free. We don't charge students, and we don't show ads.
- Partnr is in beta. Features may change, pause or stop, and we may make mistakes along the way.
- Partnr is not a school, a mentoring program or a competition organizer. We don't run, judge or guarantee any competition.
3. Your account
In short: Keep your account to yourself, and keep it accurate.
- You sign in with an email link or a Google, Microsoft or GitHub account. Keep access to that email or account private.
- Don't let anyone else use your account, and don't use anyone else's.
- You're responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else got in, email us right away.
4. Keep your personal information private
In short: Don't share private contact or personal details on Partnr. We will never ask you for them.
- Don't post or send your phone number, home address, personal email, passwords, ID or bank information, or your personal social media accounts.
- Partnr will never ask for your password or money.
- Links are for your work, not for contacting you. You can add links to things you've made: a GitHub page, a portfolio, a project or nonprofit website, a published paper or a video of your work. A public page for your club, nonprofit or project (like its Instagram) is fine. Don't link your personal social media accounts or messaging apps like Snapchat, Discord or WhatsApp.
- Anything in your profile, including your links, can be seen by the students who are allowed to see your profile. Only share what you're comfortable with other students seeing.
5. Keep conversations on Partnr
In short: Talk on Partnr until you know and trust your partner, and never meet in person without a parent or guardian knowing.
- Use Partnr's messages and shared workspace to plan your project. If someone pushes you to move to another app, that's a warning sign. Tell us.
- Never meet a Partnr connection in person without telling a parent or guardian first. If you do meet, meet in a public place, and bring a parent, guardian or teacher if you can.
- Never send photos of yourself, money or gifts to someone you met on Partnr.
6. School verification has limits
In short: Some schools are checked, most profiles are self-reported, and we can't promise anyone is who they say they are.
- A Verified badge means the student signed in with, or proved they own, an email address from a school we recognize.
- A Self-reported badge means we haven't checked. Most profiles start this way.
- No check is perfect. We can't guarantee that anyone on Partnr is who they say they are, is the age they say they are, or goes to the school they list. Use good judgment, and report anything that feels off.
7. Community rules
In short: Be respectful, be honest, and help keep Partnr safe. The full list is in our Community Guidelines.
When you use Partnr you agree to follow our Community Guidelines. In short: no bullying or harassment, no hateful or sexual content, no pretending to be someone else, no spam or selling, no cheating, and nothing illegal or dangerous. Breaking the rules can get your content removed or your account suspended or deleted.
8. Your content
In short: What you post is yours. You give us permission to show it on Partnr so the app can work.
- You own what you post: your profile, project posts, messages and files.
- By posting it, you let Partnr store, copy and show it on Partnr, only so the app can work (for example, showing your profile to matches or a file to your partner). This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for safety or legal reasons.
- Only post things you have the right to share. Don't post other people's work or private information without permission.
- Partners decide together who owns what you build. Partnr doesn't own your projects and isn't part of any agreement between partners.
9. AI matching
In short: Partnr uses AI to suggest partners and competitions. Treat suggestions as a starting point, not a promise.
- Partnr uses an AI service to rank possible partners and suggest competitions based on what you share in your profile.
- AI can be wrong. Always check a partner's profile yourself and check official competition websites for rules and deadlines.
- See our Privacy Policy for exactly what information the AI receives.
10. Reporting, blocking and our decisions
In short: You can block and report anyone. We review reports and may remove content or accounts to keep Partnr safe.
- You can block any student. Blocked students can't see you or contact you.
- Report anything that breaks the rules from the student's profile or messages, or email hello@projectpartnr.com. We read every report.
- We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or delete accounts that break these terms or put others at risk, sometimes without warning.
- We don't read every message or watch every conversation, so reports are how we find out about problems.
- If we believe someone may be in danger, we may contact a parent or guardian, the school, or the authorities.
- If you think we made a mistake, email us and we'll take another look.
11. Ending your account
In short: You can leave anytime. We can close accounts that break the rules.
- You can stop using Partnr at any time. To delete your account and data, email hello@projectpartnr.com from your account's email, or have your parent or guardian email us.
- We may close accounts that break these terms, or close Partnr completely. If we close Partnr, we'll try to give notice first.
12. Disclaimers
In short: Partnr is provided as it is. We do our best, but we can't promise it will always work or that every user is safe.
Partnr is a free beta app run by a small student team, not a large company. Please use it with that in mind.
Partnr is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise that Partnr will be error-free, secure or always available; that you'll find a partner or win anything; or that information from other users, the AI or competition listings is accurate. Other students are responsible for their own actions. Partnr is not responsible for what users say or do, on or off the app.
13. Limits on our responsibility
In short: If something goes wrong, our responsibility is limited as far as the law allows.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Partnr and the people who run it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, opportunities or profits, from your use of Partnr or your dealings with other users. Because Partnr is free, our total responsibility for any claim is limited to $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing here limits responsibility that the law says can't be limited.
14. If you break the rules
In short: If your misuse of Partnr causes a legal claim against us, you're responsible for it, as far as the law allows.
If you break these terms or the law while using Partnr and someone brings a claim against Partnr because of it, you agree to cover the costs that result, to the extent the law allows. (This is called indemnification. Most apps include it.)
15. Changes, disputes and contact
In short: We'll tell you about big changes. California law applies. Talk to us first if there's a problem.
- We may update these terms as Partnr grows. If the changes are important, we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. Using Partnr after that means you accept the new terms.
- If you have a problem with Partnr, email us first. Most things can be fixed quickly.
- These terms are governed by the laws of California, USA.
- If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
