A Guide for Parents and Guardians
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Partnr helps high school students find partners for research, startups, nonprofits and competitions, for free. Here's what your teen will do on Partnr, how we keep them safe, and how you can stay involved.
1. What Partnr is
In short: A free place for students ages 13 to 19 to find project partners and build real extracurriculars.
- Students make a profile with their interests, skills and goals. Partnr suggests partners and competitions that fit.
- Students can message partners, post projects, apply to join others' projects and share files in a shared workspace.
- Partnr is free for students, has no ads and never sells data.
- Partnr is in beta, built by a high school student founder.
2. Who your teen can meet
In short: Other students ages 13 to 19, filtered by your teen's own privacy choice.
- Your teen chooses who can find them: students at their school, in their city, or anywhere.
- Anyone under 13 or over 19 is blocked from signing up.
- Some schools are verified through school email or school sign-in. Most profiles are self-reported, so we can't guarantee every user's identity. That's why we encourage keeping conversations on Partnr.
3. What other students can see
In short: First name and last initial, city, grade, interests, skills and project ideas. Never their email, birthday or zip code.
- Their school name is only shown to students at the same school and to partners they've connected with.
- Messages and files are private between the two partners.
- Signed-out visitors can't see any student profiles.
4. How we keep students safe
In short: Clear rules, blocking and reporting, private contact details, and limits on contact.
- Students agree to our Community Guidelines: no harassment, no sexual content, no sharing personal contact info, no dating.
- Any student can block or report another student. We review every report.
- Students can only message someone after that person accepts their request, and can send at most 20 new requests a day.
- Emails about messages never include what the message says.
- We don't read every message or watch every conversation. We rely on reports, so please encourage your teen to report anything that feels off.
5. Talk with your teen
In short: A few simple rules go a long way, like on any app.
- Keep conversations on Partnr until you know and trust your partner.
- Never share a phone number, home address, personal social media or passwords.
- Tell a parent or guardian before meeting any partner in person, and meet in a public place.
- Never send money, gifts or photos.
- If anything feels off, block, report, and tell a trusted adult.
6. Your rights as a parent or guardian
In short: You can see, change or delete your teen's information at any time.
- Email hello@projectpartnr.com to get a copy of your teen's information, change their privacy settings, or delete their account.
- We'll ask you to confirm you're the parent or guardian, then respond within 30 days.
- You can read our Terms and Privacy Policy. If your teen is under 18, please review them together.
7. Questions or concerns
In short: We'd love to hear from you.
Email hello@projectpartnr.com with any question or concern. If you believe a student is in immediate danger, call 911.
